Itinerary

Day 1 :   Arrival at Cochin & Sightseeing in Cochin

Arrive Cochin Airport and transfer to hotel. Enjoy City tour of Cochin -Visit the Mattancherry Dutch Palace - (closed on Fridays and public holidays), which was built by the Portuguese in 1555 and renovated by the Dutch in 1663. Visit a Jewish Synagogue-(closed on all Saturdays and Jewish holidays) in Jew Town and Fort Cochin Area. There are a couple of streets of picture-postcard houses out of another age. Visit St. Francis Church - (closed for visitors on Sundays from 08.00 to 11.00 hrs) the oldest European Church in India. It has several antiquities including a wealth of records. See the Chinese Fishing Nets, along the tip of Fort Cochin unique to this part of Kerala and living symbols of a centuries-old Chinese influence on this coast. Evening at leisure. Day 2 :   Cochin to Periyar/Thekkady (170 kms/ 4 hrs)

Today after breakfast depart for Periyar by road. Arrive Periyar and transfer to hotel. this is also known as Thekkady. (195 kms / 6.00hrs) Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the world's most fascinating natural wildlife reserves. Enroute visit Lock Heart Gap, Signal view Point, Anayirangal Dam, Spice Plantations etc..Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3 :   Periyar/Thekkady Sightseeing

After breakfast, another day to explore the place famous for its wild life sanctuaries & safari.The town also houses one of world’s most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries. Lying at an altitude of 700-1900m above sea level, Periyar has a cool and comfortable climate. In the afternoon, proceed to visit the spice market at Kumily where you can buy fresh spices. Evening for shopping. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4 :   Periyar/Thekkady to Kumarakom (120 Kms / approx 05 hrs)

Today morning enjoy boat ride on Lake Periyar. The Park encompasses 26 sq. km. of artificial lake take a boat ride on the lake to view wild life and water birds. Herds of elephants and bison come to the lake to drink water. Return to hotel, checkout and depart for Kumarakom by road. Evening Sunset Cruise on backwaters. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 :   Kumarakom Sightseeing

After breakfast , Sightseeing's in Kumarakom, Kumarakom is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a noted bird sanctuary where many species of migratory birds visit. The Vembanad Lake, the largest backwater in Kerala, is habitat for many marine and freshwater fish species and it teems with Karimeen (Pearl spot), shrimp (chemmeen in the local language) and prawns. The bird sanctuary extends over 14 acres (57,000 m²). It is a major tourist attraction. Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 6 :   Kumarakom – Alleppey House Boat (48 kms/1hr 30mins)

Today morning after breakfast Proceed to Alleppey, Known as the Venice of the East. On arrival check into a Traditional Houseboat of Kerala Style. Cruise through the back waters is the fabulous way to explore the fascinating beauty of backwaters. Explore the Kerala traditional food prepared by chef in the Houseboat. Relax and enjoy the sun set at the backwaters. Stay overnight in the Houseboat

Night Stay: Alleppey Houseboat

Day 7 :   Alleppey to Kovalam (175 Kms/ approx. 4.5 hour drive)

Morning after breakfast proceed towards Kovalam, the famous destination for beaches in Kerala. Kovalam beach is well known not only for its beauty, but also for the entertainment programs and sports conducted on the beach. You can enjoy the famous sunset in the beach. There are facilities for backwater cruise to the beautiful countryside enjoying its lush greenery. Overnight stay at the Kovallam hotel.

Day 8 :   Kovalam to Kanyakumari (74km - 1.5 Hours)

After breakfast , drive to Kanyakumari. You will be taken to Visit Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial,Tri Samudra Milan, Thanumalayan temple, Gandhi Memorial, Thiruvalluvar Statue .Evening return to Kovalam & overnight stay at the Kovalam hotel.

Day 9 :   Departure from Kovalam to Trivandrum(35 kms)

Place Details

Cochin

Cochin, for centuries the hub of Indias spice and tea trade, Fort Cochin occupies the northern tip of a peninsula dividing the mouth of the Vembanad Lake from the Arabian Sea. Its low-rise, red-tiled skyline bears the imprint of its former colonial residents: Lusitanian chapels, Jewish synagogues, Dutch burghers houses, Armenian mansions, and British bungalows and godowns (warehouses) all survive in the Forts grid of narrow lanes the largest collection of early colonial buildings in Asia. Visitors can savour the atmosphere of bygone eras by staying in one of the beautiful heritage hotels that have opened around the waterfront.

Kovalam

Kovalam is a fixed of three adjacent seashores, sharing shores with eachdifferent- Lighthouse, Hawah, and Samudra. some of these seashores together form a crescent shape. The pinnacleappeal and the show stealers amongst the 3 beaches is the Lighthouse beach. The seaside aspect is a wealthy amalgamation of breezy air, rocky waves, swaying palm fringes and aquamarine water which quality appropriate for watersports activities.

Kumarakom

Here the high ranges of the Western Ghats are clothed in dense evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savannah grasslands. Below this thick green canopy roam herds of elephants, sambars, tigers, gaurs, lion tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs.

Alleppey Houseboat

A float in a "Kettuvallam" (Houseboat) via the spell binding backwaters of Alleppey is positive to rob your heart. Palm fringed slender canals winding through the huge expanse of paddy fields and the neat tiny hamlets coated up alongside bothaspects of the canals are panoramic points of interest you could by no means overlook. A house boat is about 67 feet in length and has a width of around 13 feet in the middle. The materials that go into the making are all local and Eco friendly bamboo poles, coconut fiber ropes, bamboo mats, coir carpets etc. The main wood used is Anjili. The house boats have fully furnished single and double rooms with sundeck, private balcony with comfortable chairs, kitchen and toilet with WC.
